Best Friends Animal Society, founded in 1984, is a leading national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in the United States. Best Friends has helped reduce the number of animals killed in shelters nationwide from an estimated 17 million per year to around 625,000.
Your support helps run lifesaving programs in partnership with more than 3,100 animal welfare groups across the country. Best Friends also has lifesaving centers in New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Salt Lake City, and operates the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals. That means there are still more than 1,700 dogs and cats killed every day in shelters, just because they don't have safe places to call home. Determined to bring the country to no-kill by the year 2025, Best Friends and its nationwide network of members and partners are working to all animals in shelters.
Hunter is such a sweet and loving boy, but the hustle and bustle of the city made him quite anxious. After a few attempts at finding the right home, he finally met his forever family. Hunter loved them from the start, and it was obvious that the feeling was mutual. They also happened to live out on Long Island – far away from the bustle of the city. For a high-strung boy like Hunter, this was perfect. Since going to his forever home, Hunter has flourished and has become quite the couch potato. He has finally found his happy place.
